Seat up to 80 guests for an evening dinner or mingle with up to 99 guests for a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres party in our historic Carriage House, which is equipped with spacious restrooms, air-conditioning/fans and heating. A welcoming indoor atmosphere is created with the warm wall colors, carpet and wood window treatments in our reception room, newly renovated in 2008. A wide, adjoining hallway provides access to the restrooms and can double as a bar or buffet area, while the courtyard area outside can provide additional space for guests to mingle during your cocktail hour. All Garden Season Carriage House receptions include an optional evening (usually 5 p.m.) ceremony, allowing up to six hours before your reception concludes at 11 p.m. This year, Sonnenberg now also offers a reception-only venue at reduced pricing during the off-season. |
Pricing and Provisions: The Garden Season rental fee for your Carriage House reception is $3,700 and includes an optional ceremony, use of the Bridal Salon in the Mansion, use of the grounds until 11 p.m., use of our gardens for photography; parking, admission and tram service for all your guests, and Sonnenberg staff to coordinate your rehearsal and wedding day activities. Through our vendor-partner, Tailored Events, Inc. of Canandaigua, your Carriage House reception also includes rental, setup and teardown of dinner tables and chairs for your guests, bar service, DJ, cake, gift and catering service tables to be used inside, and a wooden dance floor if your reception seats 70 or less. A non-refundable deposit, half-down, should be sent with your Garden Season Carriage House reception contract, to formally book your event. You then have until 30 days prior to your event to pay the balance. Couples must still arrange for food and beverages, dishes and linens, etc. through an approved caterer (see list below)
and will need to arrange coverage of the catering site fee either
through the caterer or directly with Sonnenberg. (For 2008, the catering
site fee is $150 for the first 50 guests, plus $1.50 per additional
guest.). Musicians or a DJ, flowers and photography also remain the responsibility of the couple.
Particulars: Until the conclusion of regular business hours (5:30 p.m.), your guests may tour buildings open to the public. New York State law prohibits smoking within 50 feet of any structure. While guests are not permitted to take alcoholic beverages into any gardens, the gardens may be toured until dusk, when we ask that guests return to the Carriage House for the remainder of the evening. For safety reasons, we provide tram service back to the parking lot for all guests. New! Off-Season Receptions: From early October through mid-May, when the park is closed to the public, Sonnenberg now offers reception-only reservations for 80 people or less in our Carriage House. During the off-season, your reception can be even be scheduled to start early in the day! These indoor receptions are offered at reduced-pricing from our Garden Season contract, but do include a modest hourly operations fee, $25/hour per staffer,(4-hour min. required) to cover off-season needs like snowplowing, utilities, and building security. The off-season Carriage House reception fee is $2,500. Because food service setup for your off-season reception would be entirely indoors, we recommend planning to seat 70 or less if you also plan to include dancing. A non-refundable deposit, half-down, should be sent with your Off -Season Carriage House reception contract, to formally book your event. You then have until 30 days prior to your event to pay the balance. Couples must still arrange for food and beverages, dishes and linens, etc. through an approved caterer (see list below). Scheduling: Check availability of your preferred date here, then contact our Events Manager to tour the estate, or book. Please note bookings can only be held for 4 business days without your signed contract and non-refundable deposit. Should you postpone your ceremony and reception to a different day or year, your deposit will transfer to the new date with payment of a $50 administrative fee for re-booking. If less than two weeks have passed since your original booking, the re-booking fee will be waived. |
