Featuring some of the best wines and gourmet food products from more than 40 partner wineries and farms, we are a virtual gateway to all the Finger Lakes Wine Trails, and a member of the Canandaigua Wine Trail. Housed in the historic Bay House near the conservatory, the Finger Lakes Wine Center is readily accessible from the main parking lot and garden admission is not required. A walking ramp along the north side provides wheelchair access to the retail area upstairs. Our knowledgeable staffers are on hand to help you make selections.

Tasting Room

On any given day, visitors can taste selections from 10-15 different wines from our rotating-inventory tasting bar in the Wine Center cellar downstairs for a nominal fee. Featured vintages encompass the residual sugar range from dry to semi-sweet reds and whites, dessert or sparkling wines, all made with New York State-grown grapes. The tasting room closes one-half hour before the wine sales and gift shop upstairs. On Sundays, the tasting room opens at noon. The 1911 stained glass Tiffany window -- the focal point of our tasting room – was crafted by the Pike Stained Glass Studio in Rochester, NY.   Partner Wineries

Over the Garden Season, the Finger Lakes Wine Center sells more than 160 different wine products and 25 gourmet food products from more than 40 partner wineries and farms. One of our main objectives is to provide information about these wineries and introduce visitors to the wide array of wines and food produced in the Finger Lakes.

Each Friday, Finger Lakes wineries (including those not currently represented at our wine center) have the opportunity to present their wines for tasting and sales through exclusive reservation of our Tasting Room during Featured Winery Fridays. This provides broader exposure for the wineries and offers Sonnenberg guests the chance to learn first-hand about the featured winery’s products from a winery representative.   Events

In addition to weekly happenings, the Wine Center takes a supporting role in many of the special events held at the estate, including Sonnenberg’s annual Spring and Fall Mansion Mysteries, Moonlight Strolls and Arts at the Gardens. Two special events specifically focus on wine: our first-annual Roses and Rosés and the October Harvest Crush Party.
     
Private Rental of Wine Center

After-hours rental of the Bay House Tasting Room for groups of 50 or fewer people may be arranged no less than two weeks in advance through our Events Manager. A room rental fee, based on hours and type of use (tasting party only, hors d’oeuvres/cocktail hour or sit-down meal) will apply, although arrangements with a pre-approved partner-caterer may be necessary for full-service dining. The Finger Lakes Wine Center will be pleased to serve your selection of wines, or work with you to pre-select a variety of wines based on per-bottle pricing. Wines available for tasting (2 oz. pour) or by-the-glass cash bar service (5 oz. pour) include: Chardonnay (dry white), Cabernet Sauvignon or Cab Franc (dry red), Riesling (semi-dry white), Merlot (dry to semi-dry red), Cayuga White (semi-sweet white), Pinot Noir (semi-dry red), blush/rosé or sparkling wine (sweet to very sweet).

Take home a souvenir from your special event – a signature Sonnenberg wine glass – for an additional $3/person.

  
     
  Gift Shop

Sharing space with the Finger Lakes Wine Center inside the historic Bay House is Sonnenberg’s retail gift shop, which carries an assortment of Victorian and contemporary gifts, including an array of Sonnenberg apparel, history books, photo postcards, calendars and more, plus jewelry, pottery, candles, and other collectibles – many hand-crafted by Finger Lakes artisans.
